chocolate bark recipes

You are going to love this.

It’s super easy and super impressive. Every time we make chocolate bark, we make several batches to include everybody’s favorites.

When we bring extra to our friends the next day, there are inevitably a few Doubting Thomas’ who whisper about knowing where we bought it.

These are the ones we made this week.

Rocky Road

This one was a big hit. It’s
chewy and crunchy in addition to being salty and sweet.

Rocky Road choc bark

Ingredients

  • 1 bag dark chocolate good quality chocolate chips
  • 2 Tbsp heavy cream
  • 1-2 handfuls mini marshmallows
  • 1 oz salted roasted almonds.

Preparation

  1. Pour the chips into a microwaveable bowl
  2. Add heavy cream
  3. Heat for 30 seconds
  4. Remove and stir
  5. Heat for another 30 seconds
  6. It should be melted enough so that it’s warm and easily stirred smooth
  7. If not try another 15 seconds
  8. Stir in the marshmallows and the nuts
  9. Pour the mixture onto a sheet of foil on a baking pan
  10. Refrigerate for 2 hrs
  11. Break it into pieces to serve

Spicy Bark

This was a surprise favorite. We made it as an experiment to go with a spicy curry meal. It was the first to go.

Ingredients

  • 1 bag dark chocolate chips
  • 2 Tbsp heavy cream
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 tsp Cinnamon

Preparation

Follow the directions above

If you love spice you can add an extra 1/8 tsp cayenne. Don’t go crazy though. It will overwhelm the other flavors.

Coconut and Curry Bark

This one is amazing. We made it with milk chocolate. It was too sweet for the folks who love dark but milk chocolate fans loved it. You can use either variety but since milk chocolate is creamier, use only 1 Tbsp of cream. It will still be softer than the dark bark but it won’t turn into fudge. If you want fudge, use 2 Tbsp.

coconut curry bark

Ingredients

  • 1 bag milk chocolate chips
  • 1 Tbsp heavy cream ( for harder bark, skip the cream)
  • 1/2 tsp curry powder
  • 1/4 c shredded coconut

Preparation

Follow the same directions.

White Chocolate and Oreos

This is the one they all crave. If we don’t make it, we can count on at least three people to ask for it.

oreo and white chocolate bark

Ingredients

  • 1 bag white chocolate chips
  • 1-2 tsp heavy cream( if you use more it will never harden)
  • About 20 Oreos, crushed

Preparation

Follow the same directions.

You can mix in anything that you like.

20 crushed sour lemon hard candies goes well with dark chocolate

20 crushed mint candies goes well with any kind of chocolate.

Crisp bacon, broken into pieces is always popular. About 3-4 strips per bag of chips

The special surprise is always a couple of bags of pop rocks. If you can find them, try it. It’s great. The look on people’s faces is priceless.

Enjoy your bark!
