Southern Peach Sauce

Tangy and sweet. This one is a real crowd pleaser. The secret ingredient is Coca Cola. It may sound strange but your guests will love it. 

Ingredients

  • 2 c ketchup
  • 2/3 c packed brown sugar
  • 3/4 c apple cider vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp Worcestershire
  • 2 Tbsp dry barbecue rub
  • 4 c chopped peaches
  • 1 1/4 c Coca Cola

Preparation

  1. Combine all of the ingredients in a large pot
  2. Bring to a boil
  3. Reduce to simmer for 20 min
  4. Purée till smooth.

It couldn’t be easier. This one’s a keeper.

Classic Bourbon Barbecue Sauce

This one is also a southern favorite. Those guys know how to barbecue. Plenty of people love their own recipes and get nervous about branching out. This one is worth the risk. It’s terrific. 

Ingredients

  • 1/2 onion chopped fine
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 3/4 c bourbon
  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 c ketchup
  • 1/4 c tomato paste
  • 1/3 c Apple cider vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp liquid smoke
  • 1/4 c Worcestershire
  • 1/2 c packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp hot sauce

Preparation

  1. In a large skillet , simmer bourbon, onion and garlic. About 10 min , until the onions are translucent
  2. Add the remaining ingredients
  3. Simmer 20 min
  4. Either strain or purée
  5. Cool.

Boston Barbecue Sauce

No cooking required. When there’s a possibility of rain, there’s no time to fool around. Just mix these ingredients together and baste that meat. 

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c ketchup
  • 3/4 c packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 c white vinegar
  • 1/2 c honey
  • 1/3 c soy sauce
  • 1 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  • 3/4 tsp dry mustard
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp ground black pepper

Preparation

Just combine the ingredients.

Chinese Style Barbecue Sauce

We love this one. It tastes just like  ribs from a Chinese restaurant. 

Ingredients

  • 1-2 Tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 2/3 c hoisin sauce
  • 1/2 c ketchup
  • 1/3 c dry sherry
  • 1/3 c rice wine vinegar
  • 1/4 c honey
  • 2 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 Tbsp sriracha sauce
  • 1/2 tsp ground white pepper
  • 1/2 tsp ground Szechuan pepper
  • 1/4 tsp Chinese 5 spice

Preparation

  1. In a large skillet heat the oil and sauté onion until translucent
  2. Add garlic about 30 seconds , until you can smell it
  3. Add the remaining ingredients
  4. Simmer 20 min
  5. Cool.
